Water Meadows in Dorset, UK: In 1998, Air Photo Services Ltd and Southern Archaeological Services Ltd devised a detailed methodology to quantify and classify the extent and condition of water meadows from aerial photographs, documents and field survey. This facilitated statistical analysis of the environmental and archaeological importance of water meadows for the UK Environment Agency.

This survey was the first of its kind. It provided management data to the UK Environment Agency to help select and protect water meadows which are environmentally significant and balance their preservation against the requirement for water management, agriculture and planning decisions in advance of development.

We provide air photo interpretation, mapping products and consultancy services for:
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Geomorphological, land-slip and stability surveys
  • Hydrological surveys and flood plain analysis
  • Pollution detection & contaminated land surveys
  • Agricultural, rural and urban landuse surveys
  • Hedgerow and habitat mapping
  • Forestry management
  • Landscape categorisation
Products range from appraisal and survey over a single site to design and management of major API projects, team selection and supervision and integration with other disciplines.

We supply mapped geo-referenced interpretations as AutoCAD or GIS layers based on OS digital mapping products.
